How We Choose

Every object on Petora gets the same three questions before it's listed.

1. Does it fix one real problem?

Not "is it cute" or "will it sell". We start from the thing that actually goes wrong at home — a dog who bolts food and gets sick, a cat who ignores the water bowl, a sofa arm that's paying the price — and look for the simplest object that resolves it. If we can't name the problem in one sentence, it doesn't make the cut.

2. Would we use these materials ourselves?

Food-contact surfaces are ceramic or stainless steel, never painted or coated plastic. Scratchers are dense, tightly packed recycled corrugate that lasts months, not weeks. Fabrics come off and go in the wash. Anything that touches a hard floor has to be quiet.

3. Does it survive a month at home?

We live with each object before it's listed — with real animals, real floors and a real dishwasher. We note what wears, what wobbles, and what the animal actually does with it. What you read on the product page is what we found.
